Pulse FM Invites You to Partner with Local Non-Profit to Provide School Supplies for Wake County Teachers

Pulse FM proudly supports WakeEd Partnership’s Tools4Schools Supply Drive!  WakeEd Parnership is a local non-profit organization that is committed to supporting teachers and students in the Wake County Public School System.  After learning that Wake County teachers spend an average of $926 out of their own pockets for classroom supplies for their students, WakeEd Partnership launched a classroom supply store – known as Tools4Schools — for Wake County teachers in January 2022.  Since its opening, Tools4Schools has served 4,378 teachers from 93% of Wake County Public Schools and given away more than $340,000 in new classroom supplies.

Furry Friday: Meet Dugg!

Furry Friday: Meet Dugg!

This guy is a National Treasure! Non-stop moving and he will keep you laughing. Dugg is truly a delight! He loves tennis balls and treats!! He’s such a great size, too, so for someone looking for a medium size dog to take on an adventure, Dugg is certainly your guy!
In playgroups, Dugg had small spurts of being brave enough to play but did better in a 1-on1 situation with a female and when the group got larger, he ran and hid in the corner. Easily overwhelmed, his best play partner will be more gentle yet confident.
Doug came in as a stray, so we do not know a lot about him, but we do know that he is a joy and very happy dog. Come and meet your new best friend!

Furry Friday: Meet Pickles!

Furry Friday: Meet Pickles!

*ADOPTED*

Meet Pickles – a 5-year-old mixed breed dog who’s ready to embark on a new chapter of life. Although he may appear timid at first, he has a heart full of love and a resilient spirit just waiting to be discovered. He recently spent time with a volunteer in the play yard where he just found a safe spot and laid down, welcoming the volunteer to pet him and calm him.

Being a shy dog, he can easily be overwhelmed by new experiences and unfamiliar surroundings, however he is extremely gentle and affectionate. He craves a home which can be calm and understanding to his likely longer-than-normal acclimation period. Positive reinforcement and gradual exposure to new experiences will set him up for success!

Pickles has heartworms but it’s treatable and not contagious.

If you’re interested in learning more about Pickles, please reach out to our Volunteer Matchmakers at [email protected] with the subject line “Pickles 240306”.

Pickles is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times.

Raleigh Mass Shooting

Raleigh Mass Shooting

Our hearts are heavy today as we continue to process the events of Thursday’s Raleigh mass shooting. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the victims:

  • Raleigh Police Officer Gabriel Torres, 29, who was on his way to work when he was shot
  • James Roger Thompson, 16
  • Mary Marshall, 34
  • Nicole Conners, 52
  • Susan Karnatz, 49

Two others were injured:

  • Raleigh Police Senior Officer Casey Joseph Clark, 33 – treated and released from the hospital
  • Marcille Gardner, 59, remains in the hospital in critical condition

The suspected shooter, 15, is also in the hospital in critical condition

We are having a lot of different emotions and it is a tough time for many of us. We have seen these stories on the news in other communities across the country, but when it happens in our own community, it is different. We just want you to know we are here for you, as we are every day, and we love you. Hug your loved ones extra hard today and don’t ever be afraid to say, “I love you.”
