Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo Sing 'Popular,' 'Defying Gravity' In New 'Wicked' Trailer
A trailer released by Universal Pictures for the upcoming Wicked sees Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo playing Elphaba and Glinda, respectively, and singing "Popular" and "Defying Gravity."
The trailer opens with Ariana's voice asking, "Are people born wicked? Or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?" Grande, clad in several pink costumes, is seen meeting Erivo's Elphaba and swinging from a chandelier in a shared dormitory at Shiz University.
The two then travel to the Emerald City to meet Jeff Goldblum's Wizard of Oz. Grande is heard singing "Popular," and then sings a few lines from "Defying Gravity."
The visual features flying monkeys, yellow bricks, silver slippers and plenty of pink and green.
The first Wicked film is set to premiere on Thanksgiving Day. The story, co-written by Winnie Holzman, is based on Gregory Maguire's 1955 novel "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West." Stephen Schwarts wrote the show's music and lyrics.

Cardi B says she is not dropping a new album this year, as she had promised a few weeks back.
The rapper made the announcement in a conversations with fans online about the follow up to her 2018 debut album.
It has been six years since the rapper released her first studio album, Invasion of Privacy.
Cardi B had earlier indicated that her new album is expected to be release in 2024.
Apparently provoked by a fan's tweet poking fun at Cardi's past promises of her delayed album, the 31 year-old artist wrote on X, "Exactly and I tell myself this all the time .. and I hate that I fall back and start interacting again and it bites me in the a**."
She followed it up with the disappointing statement, saying, "Anyway NO album this year I don't care I'm relaxing this year .. Dropping these features I already committed to and traveling and enjoying my summer."
In celebration of the sixth anniversary of Invasion of Privacy in April, Cardi B had promised, "6 years later I'm preparing to drop the next one this year.. it's so different from what everyone is expecting and I'm sooo excited."

Eminem ran a fake "Slim Shady" obituary in the Detroit Free Press earlier this week to promote his upcoming 12th studio album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grace).
The message features a photo of Eminem in a white Jason Voorhees hockey mask. The headline reads, "Slim Shady Made Lasting Impressions" and the subhead says, "Fans 'Will Never Forget' Controversial Rapper."
The obituary reads: "A product of Detroit who began his career there as a rogue splinter in the flourishing underground rap scene of the mid to late 1990s, Shady first became a household name in 1999 with the debut of his playfully deranged single 'My Name Is,' which - along with its uniquely eye catching video - exposed the young artist and his lyrics to a wider audience."
"Ultimately, the very things that seemed to be the tools he used became calling cards that defined an existence that could only come to a sudden and horrific end. His complex and tortured existence has come to a close, and the legacy he leaves behind is no closer to resolution than the manner in which this character departed this world. May he truly find the peace in an afterlife that he could not find on Earth."
The album announcement came in April in the form of an "Unsolved Mysteries" episode featuring Eminem meeting his demise in search of "who killed Slim Shady?"
The Death Of Slim Shady will serve as a follow-up to the rapper's 2020 album, Music to Be Murdered By, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, giving Em his historic 10th consecutive leader.

Drake and Kendrick Lamar's diss tracks hog the limelight on Billboard's Hot Rap Songs chart dated May 18, claiming the top six slots on the list.
Lamar's "Not Like Us" debuted at No. 1 on the multi-metric Hot Rap Songs chart. The song logged 70.9 million official U.S. streams in the tracking week ended May 9, according to Luminate.
The song's streaming sum becomes the highest one-week count for a hip-hop title, since YouTube song user-generated content was removed from chart calculations in 2020, taking the honor from Drake's "Way 2 Sexy," featuring Future and Young Thug, which racked up 67.3 million streams in its debut week.
"Not Like Us" also registered 5 million radio audience impressions and sold 15,000 downloads in the same tracking period.
Lamar also captures the No. 2 slot with "Euphoria," which stays firm at that spot for a second consecutive week, thanks to 49 million official U.S. streams. "Like That," which stayed atop for six weeks, is at No. 3 in the latest week.
Drake's "Family Matters," debuts at No. 4, riding on 38 million streams, while his first entry into the battle, "Push Ups," is pushed 4-6 in its third week on the list. Lamar's "Meet the Grahams" opened at No. 5.

Adam Lambert recently shared a "Hemix" of his 2009 smash hit "Whataya Want From Me."
The remixed version, "Whatya Want From Me (White Shadow Hemix '24)," is currently streaming on all platforms.
The original version of the song, off his debut album For Your Entertainment, earned Lambert a Grammy nomination for best male pop vocal performance that year.
In the "Hemix," the singer has reimplemented the pronoun "he" which was replaced with "it" when the song was originally recorded in 2009.
"He messed me up / Need a second to breathe," Lambert sings in the new version to reclaim the pronoun and queerness in his artistry.
"'Whataya Want From Me' is a song that I hold dear to my heart and its success contributed to me having a platform to speak out in support of queer rights and equality," said Lambert. "It's a beautiful, full circle moment that I'm now able to reclaim it loud and proud with the 'he' pronoun to celebrate my community and how far we've come, with real representation and a spectrum of vibrant identities flourishing in the music industry. 2009 wasn't ready for me, 2024 is."
