The White Stripes, Oasis, Cyndi Lauper, Mariah Carey Lead Rock Hall Of Fame Nominees

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s class of 2025 performer nominees were announced on Wednesday (February 12). This year’s list features a total of 14 candidates, which includes eight first-time nominees: Outkast, Billy Idol, the Black Crowes, Phish, Bad Company, Joe Cocker, Chubby Checker, and Maná, the first primarily Spanish-language nominee. The other six nominees are returning contenders the White Stripes, Soundgarden, Oasis, Mariah Carey, Cyndi Lauper, and Joy Division/New Order. The list of nominees will now get voted on by 1,200 individuals, with winners to be revealed in late April. Additionally, there will be special recognition inductees chosen for Musical Influence, Musical Excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award categories. “This remarkable list of nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates,” said John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, in a statement. The Rock Hall induction ceremony will move to Los Angeles this year, on a date this fall that has yet to be announced. (Variety)
