Tate McRae Scores Her First No. 1 Album On Billboard 200 With ‘So Close To What’

Following her high-profile appearance as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on March 1, Tate McRae has earned her first No. 1 album of her career with So Close To What, which debuts atop the Billboard 200 chart this week. The Canadian pop superstar’s new record claims the biggest debut week for a studio album by a woman in five months, and becomes McRae’s second Top 10-charting record of her career, following the No. 4 peak of Think Later in December 2023. The rest of the Billboard 200 Top 10 is rounded out by PARTYNEXTDOOR and Drake’s former chart-topper, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U, falling a spot to No. 2, Kendrick Lamar’s GNX stays at No. 3, SZA’s SOS remains at No. 4, Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet falls three spots to No. 5, Bad Bunny’s Debí Tirar Más Fotos drops a spot to No. 6, The Weeknd’s Hurry Up Tomorrow slides down a slot to No. 7, Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess dips one spot to No. 8, Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time sticks at No. 9, and Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft falls two spots to No. 10.
