Chappell Roan And Elton John Perform Series Of Duets At His AIDS Foundation Academy Award Party

Shortly after the 97th Academy Awards ended, Elton John‘s AIDS Foundation Academy Award Party hosted a performance by Grammy-winning artist Chappell Roan at West Hollywood Park. The event drew a mix of musicians (including Brandi Carlile and Diplo), actors, and industry insiders, who were treated to a vibrant set by Roan that featured performances of her hits as well as a series of duets with Sir Elton. Roan even gifted John his own pink cowboy hat while the duo performed her current Billboard No. 8 hit, “Pink Pony Club,” while they also teamed up on “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” which featured John on keys. Roan paid tribute to Elton with a touching cover of “Your Song,” while admitting to the crowd that “it’s kind of scary singing it in front of the person who wrote it.” Roan called it, “maybe the best song of all time,” as she dedicated her rendition to her parents, who were in attendance. John was clearly moved by Roan’s performance, proclaiming “You’re the best, baby. I love you so much,” while they shared the stage together. (Billboard)
