The series will explore Combs’ life, career, and recent criminal trial stemming from abuse allegations by his ex, Cassie Ventura, leading to his current prison sentence for prostitution-related charges. Directed by Emmy Award-winner Alexandria Stapleton, the series features new interviews and unseen material, aiming to reflect on celebrity idolization rather than focusing solely on Combs’ criminal case. “Ultimately, this story is a mirror [reflecting us] as the public, and what we are saying when we put our celebrities on such a high pedestal,” Stapleton says of the project, while adding, “I hope [this documentary] is a wake-up call for how we idolize people, and to understand that everybody is a human being.” Combs is appealing his conviction amid reports of efforts to seek a presidential pardon, which 50 Cent has vowed to oppose.
