Roads to Wilmington Cut Off as Flood Waters Rise

Roads to Wilmington Cut Off as Flood Waters Rise

Wilmington has been completely cut off by Hurricane Florence’s Floodwaters.

Roads leading in and out of Wilmington are underwater and the water continues to rise.

“The risk to life is rising with the angry waters,” said Gov. Roy Cooper.

According to Woody White, chairman of the board of commissioners of New Hanover County, officials are planning for food and water to be flown into the coastal city of nearly 120,000 people.

Those who did not evacuate have been waiting in lines outside of stores, restaurants and gas stations for hours.

Wilmington is just one of many NC towns to experience extreme flooding.

New Bern has had over 455 people rescued from flood waters.

The Cape Fear, Little River, Lumber, Waccamaw and Pee Dee rivers are all projected to overflow and crest at or near record levels.
