The second Friday of every month, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., head to Chapel Hill and Carrboro for an ArtWalk. Experience live music, food, activities, hands-on art demonstrations, discounts, live music and more. Download a map to help make sure you don’t miss anything. 27 venues are highlighted on the map.

 

Sparkle Night

4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Parkside Town Commons, 7119 O’Kelly Chapel Road, Cary

Bring the family to this early kickoff to the holiday season. The mayor is flipping the switch for both the Christmas tree and the Hanukkah menorah. Santa will be there and there will also be bounce houses, face painting, trackless train rides, music and more.

 

Carolina Hurricanes Alumni vs. Raleigh Police Department hockey officers

Sunday, November 11

4:30 p.m.

PNC Arena, 1400 Edwards Mill Road, Raleigh

This game is free to watch, and afterwards the Canes’ autographed jerseys will be auctioned off. Come by early. Starting at 3 p.m., the Raleigh Police Department is having a Show & Tell in the East Entrance Parking Lot and you can check out motorcycles, SWAT trucks, horses, K9 and more.

 

Pecan Pickin’ Month at Historic Oak View County Park

All November

4028 Carya Drive, Raleigh

Any time Historic Oak View County Park is open in November, you’re welcome to come by and gather some pecans that have fallen from the trees in Wake County’s largest pecan grove. The rules: Only pick pecans that have fallen from the trees. Only fill up a lunchbag sized bag. Don’t do dumb stuff like climbing the trees, throwing things at the trees, or harming the trees.
