Hi friends!
I figured I should take the time to introduce myself…and I mean reaaaaally take my time because it’s been like a month lol. And what better time to start a blog than in quarantine?
SO anyways, I’m Mel. I’m from New Jersey and I’ve lived in South Carolina, but I moved here from Jacksonville, FL.
I went to a two year college and got a degree in communications and had no idea what I wanted to do. I networked my way through the touring scene and eventually ended up in radio. I’ve been on the air for two years as of this month! Woo! It’s a dream come true and I am beyond excited to be here in Raleigh.
Music means the absolute world to me, there is not a minute of my life spent without it. Right now I’m sitting in my office listening to Blackbear and typing this. My favorite band of all time is Green Day, I have a Kesha tattoo, I’ve sobbed every time I’ve seen Cher and I have a giant cutout of Post Malone in my office.
My journey started when I met Hoodie Allen about 8 years ago. That band has truly changed my life. Through them, I have met so so SO many people in the industry and have some of the coolest memories. Without a doubt I wouldn’t be where I am today without them and I will always have the biggest spot in my heart for them.
I love shopping, street art, new artists, youtube, festivals, bargains and definitely local events, so that’s what my blog will be. There’s no specific theme, it’ll really be like my diary. Once the world opens up a bit more, it’ll also be me exploring the triangle! I’ve only been here for about a month, and it was the absolute weirdest time to move. I went out ONE NIGHT and then BAM quarantine. So now I am trying to see the city while respecting social distancing.
You can keep up with me everywhere (instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, Pinterest, Duke Energy, literally everywhere) @STUCKWITHMEL and if you have any recommendations, requests, questions, want me to listen to your mixtape, etc. DM me. I always respond! I might even blog about it.
So that’s me….this is it!
k love you bye ♥

Mayor Steve Schewel says the city of Durham and Durham County will extend their combined stay-at-home order past Friday’s scheduled expiration date to help further slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Schewel said he and Wendy Jacobs, the chair of the Durham County Board of Commissioners, plan to make a formal announcement in a day or two.
The two local governments have a stricter order than the statewide order imposed by Gov. Roy Cooper, who has begun a phased reopening of the state.
“I think I can say with safety that we will be simplifying our order,” Schewel said during a joint meeting of the city and county on Tuesday morning. “We will be adopting the governor’s order, and we will be adding our own restrictions that we think are important.”
For example, the extended Durham order will keep the local requirement for face masks when there isn’t social distancing.
