Hillsborough Art Walk

Friday, July 26

6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Downtown Hillsborough

The last Friday of every month, rain or shine, Downtown Hillsborough showcases its art scene with the Last Fridays Art Walk from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Explore art galleries, artist studios, fine jewelers, boutique shops and award-winning restaurants. The activity takes place mostly on and around Churton Street, between West Margaret Lane and West Queen Street. You can find a map and information on each participating venue on Hillsborough Arts Council’s website. There will also be a free concert in downtown Hillsborough, by the UBU Band, and Hillsborough Classic Film Society will be showing Wall-E at the Orange County Public Library

 

Final Friday Cary Art Crawl

Friday, July 26

6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Downtown Cary

Once a month on the last Friday, Cary showcases its artists and musicians at the Final Friday Cary Art Crawl. Art galleries stay open later, and there are live performances at the entertainment hubs. Visit the website for a map.

 

Bubble Festival in Chapel Hill

Saturday, July 27th

10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Smith Middle School, 9201 Seawell School Road, Chapel Hill

Grandpop Bubbles will be bringing his bubble wands, poles, basins, buckets and 90 gallons of bubble juice. There will also be a dog show, bounce houses and more.

 

Kirby Derby

Saturday, July 27th

3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Dix Park, Raleigh

Kirby Derby is a home-grown Raleigh tradition that started in the tiny Pullen Park Terrace Neighborhood in 2002. Now it’s moved to Dix Park and is open to everyone. It features Pinecar races, the Kirby Derby Parade, and a Soap Box Derby. Registration required for participants, but free to come and party.
