Sugar Magnolia Café, 219 South White Street, Wake Forest

Wake Forest Listening Room is a music series that brings top-notch live music to downtown Wake Forest. The artists perform at Sugar Magnolia Café.  On Friday, the acclaimed Americana band, Time Sawyer, will perform for the first time in Wake Forest, so don’t miss this.

 

Audio Under the Stars

Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University, 1317 West Pettigrew Street, Durham

Audio Under the Stars is a summer-long audio festival. The stories are curated by local audiophiles at Duke University’s Center for Documentary Studies. The theme for this episode is “Awkward.” Bring a chair or blanket.

The Durham Hotel, 315 East Chapel Hill Street, Durham

Stop by the coffee shop at The Durham Hotel for a celebration of typewriters. If you have an old typewriter of your own, bring it by and the typewriter gurus will clean it up for you and set you up with a new ribbon. Type a letter on one of their typewriters and they’ll spot you nice paper and stamps. Get a poem or story on-demand from a local writer. Also enjoy typewriter-themed music and film. You could even win a vintage typewriter in the raffle.

NC Museum of Natural Science, 11 West Jones Street, Raleigh

Learn all about the sun on the Sunday closest to the summer solstice. Observe the sun through a special telescope on the rooftop terrace. There will also be talks from astronomers and more.

 

American Dance Festival Tango Lesson and Dance Party

Sunday, June 24th

7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Pour Taproom, 202 N. Corcoran Street, Durham

Meet at the CCB Plaza outside Pour Taproom. American Dance Festival faculty will teach a Tango lesson at 7:30 p.m., followed by a dance party.
