The Cultural Landscape Foundation is a non-profit in Washington, DC that hosts weekends of free tours about cultural landscapes throughout the country. The organization is presenting such a weekend in the Triangle this weekend. Expert guides will lead free tours to 28 sites in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. UNC Chapel Hill
Visit more than 100 booths and take advantage of numerous behind-the-scene tours of Carolina’s cutting-edge science departments. No registration is required. Learn how a greenhouse works, about the physics and astronomy department’s world renown research, learn about how the brain works, and more. The makerspace student group will be offering hands-on projects suitable for all ages. The tours leave from the Old Well.

Duke Arts Annex, 404 Gattis St, Durham
At the 2018 Mural Durham Festival, eight satellites will be painted live by local artists, with some help from Duke students. These murals will transform the Duke Arts Annex grounds into a one-of-a-kind community park for Durham’s Burch Avenue neighborhood and beyond. Besides watching the artists at work, you can take a free screen-printing workshop, watch dance performances, get lunch from a food truck and more.
