Downtown Raleigh

Downtown Raleigh showcases its art, music and food at their monthly gallery walk. Dozens of venues will be hosting art receptions. You’ll also find lots of deals on food and drinks. Also, visit CAM Raleigh for free, and stop by the North Carolina Museum of History for a classic film, and free samples of Double Barley Brewing, while they last.

 

Durham Greek Festival

Saturday, May 5, and Sunday, May 6

11 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days

St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 8306 NC Hwy 751, Durham

This promises to be one of the tastiest weekends of the year. The entertainment, including music and dancing, is free. Just pay for your gyros and baklava!

 

Fest in the West

Saturday, May 5

11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

USA Baseball Training Complex, Thomas Brooks Park, 7445 Green Hope School Road, Cary

This free festival features live music, an arts and crafts village, kids’ activities and food. If you’re feeling competitive, compete in the pie eating contest or the hillbilly horseshoes contest. The horseshoe is a toilet seat.

 

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta at Mason Jar Lager Company

Saturday, May 5

12 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Mason Jar Lager Company, 341 E. Broad Street, Fuquay-Varina

This Cinco de Mayo celebration includes special beer releases, a sugar skull decorating contest, Luchador wrestling and piñatas filled with gifts from local businesses. For more Cinco de Mayo celebrations head to Triangle on the Cheap.
