Are you looking for the joy and playfulness of a young dog, but the manners and affection of a mature dog? Then Cricket is your guy! He’s a giant ball of fun who is smart, goofy, and athletic. Cricket is both potty trained and crate trained. Plus, Cricket’s foster parents report that he is so well behaved in their house, that they no longer crate him when he’s at home alone.
Cricket is high energy and loves getting the zoomies around the backyard, playing fetch, and throwing his toys up in the air, before batting them around. Though he is high energy in the yard, he walks very well on his leash with a harness. After he is exercised, he is a cuddle bug. Cricket is VERY obsessed with people and wants to be as close to you as you will allow at all times. He will happily crawl in your lap and give you kisses, or lay down to be petted until your hands are tired. He is so soft and fluffy, you will struggle to say no to his insistent requests to be petted.
Cricket was living in an apartment before coming into foster, and that was very stressful for him. His ideal home would be a standalone house, where he is not anxious from the mystery noises of the neighbors. He would also love a fenced-in yard, so he could run out his energy before coming in to lay in your lap and watch TV with you. Every day is the best day for Cricket. He is the happiest, and most bubbly dog. He has the best head tilts, and the cutest smile. And… there is no telling Cricket that he is too big for your lap. He fits, just ask him.
Cricket is highly treat motivated, and already has mastered sit and stay. He loves toys, kongs, and bones, so it is not hard to keep him entertained. He currently lives with both a male and female dog, and gets along with each of them. Cricket’s foster parents have also invited several dogs for play dates, and they report that he gets along with everyone—mirroring whatever playstyle he sees. Plus, he gives the cutest play bows!
Cricket is already neutered and up to date on all his shots. If you think Cricket could be a good fit for you or your family, please email his foster mom at hickeym08@gmail.com to get more information or schedule a time to meet him.
Adoptions are first-come, first-served, and you must meet Cricket in person before the process can begin. Visit the Wake County Animal Center’s Adoption Page for full details on fees and the adoption process.
Thank you for considering making Cricket a part of your family!
