Karma is a smart, spunky girl who’s spayed and ready to go home today! At 3 years old, she already knows sit, down, and shake. She’s a smart cookie who loves to show off her skills. Her previous owner also shared that she is potty trained and friendly with kids, making her a wonderful companion for the right family.
Karma is an athletic, high-energy lady with a rough-and-tumble play style—which can be a lot of fun for dogs who enjoy energetic, full-contact play. However, it also means that she’s not every dog’s cup of tea. She doesn’t always enjoy sharing, so slow introductions and supervision are important for her comfort. In her more recent playgroups, Karma has shown a shorter fuse and a lower tolerance for dogs in her space (becoming stiff and uncomfortable) and one session with a friendly male was ended early to prevent escalation. These behaviors suggest she may do best with very careful dog introductions or as the only dog in the home, where her boundaries can be respected and her focus can stay on building a strong bond with her people.
Karma has lived with cats before, but her rowdy play style was a bit too much for the resident feline. And, on the farm, she showed way too much interest in the chickens and other critters—both big and small. Because of this, she’ll do best in a home without chickens, or other small animals and where wildlife or livestock won’t be part of her daily interactions.
Karma is affectionate, eager to learn, and full of life. She’s looking for a family that appreciates her spirited nature, gives her guidance and structure, and loves her for the smart, bold, wonderful girl she is.
Karma is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and already spayed. If you have dogs, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times.
Karma is currently being housed at the Wake County Animal Center’s adoption center and can be visited any day from noon – 6 p.m. If you’re interested in learning more about Karma, please reach out to the Wake County Animal Cener’s volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line “Karma, 233662.” Adoptions are first-come, first-served; you must meet with a pet in-person before the adoption process can be started.
