The National Music Publishers’ Association announced a pair of senior promotions this week, expanding the responsibilities of two long-tenured executives. According to the organization, the moves reflect the growing scope of its legal, advocacy, and external efforts on behalf of songwriters and music publishers.
As part of the announcement, Danielle Aguirre was named chief legal officer and chief operating officer. In this role, she will continue overseeing legal strategy while also managing day-to-day operations. Aguirre has spent more than a decade at NMPA, where she has led negotiations with digital services and represented publishers in proceedings before the Copyright Royalty Board.
The organization also confirmed that Charlotte Sellmyer has been promoted to executive vice president of external affairs. Her responsibilities include songwriter advocacy, public relations, events, and oversight of programs such as Gold & Platinum. Sellmyer has worked at NMPA for over 11 years, helping shape its public-facing initiatives and policy messaging.
NMPA said the promotions are intended to strengthen leadership as industry and policy challenges continue to evolve.
