A longtime fixture of alternative rock is stepping into a new role. Flea has announced his first solo album, titled Honora, marking his first full-length release outside of Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The album features contributions from Nick Cave and Thom Yorke, signaling a shift away from the funk-driven sound Flea is best known for. The project centers on mood, composition, and restraint, with a focus on atmosphere rather than virtuosic bass work.
Alongside the album announcement, Flea confirmed plans for a small-scale tour across North America, the UK, and Europe. The shows are scheduled for intimate venues, reflecting the personal nature of the material.
After decades spent in one of the world’s most recognizable rock bands, the release places Flea within a familiar industry pattern. Established artists often use solo work to explore ideas that sit outside long-running group dynamics, especially later in their careers.
