Triangle’s First Cat Coffee Shop is Coming to Chapel Hill

Triangle’s First Cat Coffee Shop is Coming to Chapel Hill

Calling all cat lovers! The Triangle’s first cat coffee shop is coming to Chapel Hill this fall!

Cat Tales Cat Cafe will open on Franklin Street this fall, aiming to change up the adoption process.

Kyla Speizer, daughter of one of the co-owners said “My mom went for a walk with our dog one day and came home saying that she thought Chapel hill needed a cat café and that she would love to be the one to do it,” Speizer said. “I wholeheartedly supported the idea, of course.”

| CHAPEL HILL | Have you heard the mews? The Triangle’s first cat cafe will be opening in Chapel Hill this fall! 😻 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ At Cat Tales Cafe, you’ll be able to grab some delicious treats and cozy up with adorable kitties. The best part? They’ll all be adoptable so you can take one home when you (inevitably) fall in love. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Located at 431 W. Franklin St. in Chapel Hill, they’re hoping for a late October opening—making this a totally #worththedrive spot for purrrfect fall vibes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 📸by @cattalescatcafe

Co-owner and manager Katy Poitras explains how the cafe will work with Goathouse Refuge, a nonprofit no-kill animal sanctuary based out of Pittsboro. “They choose the original cats that they think will do really well based on their personalities, and then they bring them in, and we give them time to settle in,” Poitras said. “As these cats are getting adopted, they are bringing us more cats, so we always have fresh cats.” The cafe is set to open in October.
